- Keep the lid or bag tightly closed between use.

- To make the best coffee, use within two weeks of purchase with filtered or spring water.

- Never store coffee in a fridge or freezer, as moisture will affect the flavor.  Coffee is extremely absorbent; moisture, light, and oxygen cause coffee to deteriorate more rapidly.  Simply store in a cool dry place.

- Share some...don't be stingy.

Black Jar Coffee

Black Jar Coffee is my own air-roasted blend of two coffee beans, Papua New Guinea being the primary.

This is a dark roast blend of two different coffee beans that go great together for me with the assurance you will enjoy it just as much.

Not only can this coffee be prepared as a standard drip brew, french press, or pour over but it can be ground down just a tad more and be used as an espresso.

Each Black Jar of coffee bean is roasted to order.

Did you catch that?

Each Black jar of coffee bean is roasted to order.

You will not get coffee that has been sitting around two months waiting to leave the shelf.

Once the whole bean blend has been roasted, it is packed directly into the jar or bag and sealed after it has cooled.

Whole bean or ground, either way, you get your Black Jar Coffee as fresh as it can get because the killer aroma and flavor is captured and retained within as soon as it reaches its peak in roasting.

There are no other blends available at this time.  Only this one blend of two awesome beans is good enough.

Once your order is placed, please allow 1 week prior to shipment.

Your order is being freshly roasted and ground(if desired) just for you.

BJC coffee monte showalter

This guy ...

This guy right here, Monte Showalter, is how it all started for me.  Monte, a missionary to South America, taught me to roast my own green coffee bean at home when I met him in Chicago, IL back in 2010.  He's worked and lived near the bean fields in that country picking the cherry and roasting the bean over a camp fire all on the same spot.  He knows a thing or two about bean roasting.

He encouraged me to try several green beans from various countries, roast them, to determine my favorite note.

aggressively reseached a few beans to determine my plan of action.  After a couple years, I found my personal favorite blend.  A Papau New Guinea bean as the primary mixed with a secondary bean provided me with a flavor and taste that suited me best.

As time would have it, I shared my roast with those around me soon began to sell in local vendor markets and online.

Here we are.

Glad you asked!  A black glass jar is not some snobby-coffee marketing gimmick.

There are 2 reasons why a black jar is used.

1.  Black.  Contrary to what you've heard about keeping your coffee supply in the fridge, keeping your dry coffee supply 'in the cold', is not really true BUT keeping it 'in the dark' is the benefit.  In a fridge, your coffee is surrounded by odor and moisture and that's really not ideal especially with any premium coffees.

Store your dry coffee in a dark area.  A cabinet will suffice or in this case, since the jar is black,  keep it on your coffee island for the world to see.

Moisture only needs to be introduced to your dry coffee when brewing, not during storage.

2.  Jar.  Coffee in its bean/ground form is extremely absorbent of odors outside of its container.  If left open, even for a short period of time, it will lose its savor and aroma while in its dry state.

Especially for the daily coffee drinker, a glass jar is about the best way to retain all that goodness inside until you open it up and use what you need.  Just remember to close that lid snug!

With that being said, the black jar in itself makes great presentation as a stand alone gift or used in a gift bag of assorted items.  We recommend using the jar for first time users (sample size) or the 16oz  jars for gifts and special occasions.

If you're one of our subscribers or use our product on a regular basis, then the refill bag is best deal for you.

There you have it!  That's why we use a black jar to distribute this good stuff!
